Textiles
Textiles are the soft architecture of a space. We use them as a primary architectural material to manipulate light, absorb sound, and define the sensory character of a room. From the heavy drape of a wool curtain to the textured surface of a fabric-wrapped wall, textiles introduce a layer of softness, warmth, and humanity that hard materials alone cannot provide. They are the element that transforms a house from a structure into a home.

High-Mass for Low-Frequency Absorption
TX–01
While all fabrics absorb high-frequency sound, heavy, high-mass textiles like felted wool or velvet are particularly effective at absorbing low-frequency sound energy, the “booming” sounds that are difficult to control. By specifying a fabric by its weight (grams per square meter), we can create curtains or wall panels that are scientifically tuned to provide effective, broad-spectrum acoustic absorption.
Open-Weave for Light Diffusion
TX–02
A polished finish closes the pores of the stone and creates a near-mirror-like surface that reveals the full depth, colour, and crystalline structure of the material. We use this not to create bling, but to create a dynamic dialogue with light. A polished surface brings movement into a space, reflecting the shifting light of the day and the subtle colours of the surrounding environment, making the material feel alive and responsive.
Layering for Dynamic Control
TX–03
By layering different textiles on separate tracks, for example, a sheer, open-weave linen for daytime diffusion, and a heavy, high-mass wool for nighttime acoustic comfort and blackout, we can create a highly flexible architectural system. This allows the inhabitant to dynamically control the light, acoustics, and mood of a space to suit different activities and times of day. It is a low-tech, high-performance approach to creating an adaptable environment.
