The composer of interiors, shaped by proportion, material integrity, and long-term thinking.

About Dukes

Our work is concerned with the structure and experience of space.

How it flows, how it is felt, and how it endures. We work with private clients and organisations who value discretion, clarity, and a considered approach to shaping environments of lasting quality.

Private Residential Commissions

A private residential commission with Dukes is defined by relationship, trust, and discretion.

Each engagement begins with alignment: an understanding of how you live, what you value, and how space should support both now and over time. Our role is to hold the integrity of that vision from first conversation through to realisation.

We work with private clients undertaking considered personal projects, often involving complex or sensitive environments where judgement, clarity, and continuity matter. Commissions are typically rooted in long-term homes and architecturally significant properties, shaped through close collaboration and a shared commitment to quality rather than pace or scale.

Our work is concentrated where thoughtful design and careful delivery are valued. Availability is deliberately limited, allowing each commission the depth, attention, and stewardship it requires.

Dukes selects projects based on alignment, not volume.

Our Approach

Dukes approaches each commission with a clear set of priorities, guided by judgement rather than formula. Our work is defined by how we think about space, material, and responsibility.

Spatial intent & flow

Every room is considered in relation to how it is entered, used, and experienced. Movement, proportion, light, and function are shaped together to create homes that feel intuitive, composed, and deeply resolved.

Material language

Materials are selected not only for their appearance, but for their weight, texture, longevity, and relationship to the wider scheme. Each surface, finish, and detail contributes to a coherent architectural language.

Design continuity

The original design intent is protected from first concept through to completion. This ensures the clarity of the vision is maintained as the project evolves, without dilution, compromise, or unnecessary noise.

Delivery & accountability

Creative direction is matched by disciplined execution. Decisions, suppliers, budgets, and timelines are managed with care, ensuring the finished result reflects both the ambition of the design and the realities of delivery.

Stewardship of the home

A home is treated as a long-term environment, not a one-off project. The work considers how the space will age, adapt, and continue to serve the people who live in it with permanence, comfort, and quiet refinement.

Design
Language

Each engagement begins with conversation and alignment. Time is taken to understand how a space is to be used, experienced, and sustained, establishing a clear foundation before work begins.

Every commission is singular. Dukes does not replicate designs or apply templates, instead developing a bespoke visual and spatial language for each client.

Once engaged, a Visual Leadership Portfolio is developed to guide the work, capturing intent, direction, and key judgements as they emerge. This language becomes the reference point for all decisions as the project progresses.

Private references and working material may be shared selectively, once alignment and intent have been established.

Express design intelligence and material judgement without revealing projects or outcomes.
